Static vs dynamic QR codes
Two flavours exist. Here's the plain-English difference — and which one you actually need.
Static QR codes
The data — a URL, WiFi password, payment address — is encoded directly into the QR pattern. The code is free, works offline and never expires. It can't be edited or tracked after generation, but for sharing WiFi, business cards, packaging or payments those limits don't matter.
Dynamic QR codes
Encode a short redirect URL that points to your real content. You can edit the destination later without reprinting and the redirect server records scans. Useful for marketing campaigns that need analytics — but they are subscription-based, expire if you stop paying and break if the redirect service goes offline.
For most uses — sharing WiFi, business cards, packaging, posters, payment QR codes — static is exactly what you want. That is what every generator on this page creates.

No signup, no watermark, unlimited downloads in PNG and SVG.
Private by design
QR codes are built in your browser — your data never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions
What is a QR code generator?
A QR code generator is a tool that turns information — like a WiFi password, link, phone number or payment address — into a scannable QR code. Anyone can scan it with a phone camera to instantly access that information.
Is EasyQRTools really free?
Yes. Every generator is 100% free with no signup and no watermark. You can create and download unlimited QR codes as PNG or SVG files.
Do I need to install an app or create an account?
No. Everything runs in your browser. There is nothing to install and no account required — just open a tool, fill in the form and download your QR code.
Is my data private?
Yes. QR codes are generated entirely on your device using JavaScript. Your passwords, links and payment details are never uploaded to our servers.
What can I do with a QR code?
Share WiFi access, start a WhatsApp chat, dial a number, send an email or SMS, join a Zoom or Teams meeting, add an event to a calendar, or accept PayPal and Bitcoin payments — all with a single scan.
Do QR codes expire?
Static QR codes — like every code created on EasyQRTools — never expire. The data is encoded directly in the pattern itself, so as long as the underlying destination (URL, phone number, etc.) is still valid, the QR code will keep working forever. Only paid dynamic QR codes can expire, typically when a subscription ends.
What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?
A static QR code stores the data directly inside the pattern. It is free, permanent and works offline, but can't be edited or tracked. A dynamic QR code stores a short redirect URL, so you can change the destination later and record scan analytics — but it requires a paid subscription and stops working if the redirect service goes offline. EasyQRTools generates static QR codes, which is what most people need.
Can I track who scans my QR code?
Not with a free static QR code. Scan tracking requires the QR code to point at a redirect URL, which is what paid dynamic services provide. If you only need basic analytics, encode a URL with UTM parameters (for example example.com/?utm_source=qr) — your existing analytics platform will then count those visits.
How big should a printed QR code be?
A reliable rule of thumb is that the QR code should be at least 1/10th of the distance from which it will be scanned. For a poster scanned from one metre away, aim for 10 cm × 10 cm or larger. For business cards, 2 cm × 2 cm is the practical minimum. Always download the SVG version and test with a real phone before printing in volume.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
Choose PNG for digital use — emails, slides, websites and most small prints. Choose SVG for anything that will be resized or printed large, such as posters, billboards, packaging or signage. SVG is a vector format, so it stays perfectly crisp at any size.
